This little feline came into the world particularly small and with fragile health. Sadly, his mother abandoned him, likely thinking he wouldn’t survive. On top of his already weak state, he now had to navigate the challenge of surviving without a mother to care for him, a daunting task even for a healthy kitten.
Meet Guinness, a little kitten with a resilient spirit who had a difficult start in life. After being abandoned by his mother, he was taken in by the Kitty Kottage shelter at just 3 weeks old and cared for by Beth, a dedicated volunteer foster family. Despite receiving attentive care, Guinness only weighed a mere 99 grams, which is typically the weight of a newborn kitten. With the odds against him, Guinness had to fight hard to survive.
A brave little kitten captured Beth’s heart when she discovered it had survived three difficult weeks in a fragile state. Despite its fighting spirit, the kitten still needed a lot of courage to overcome its poor growth and crusty eyes that made it unclear if it could see properly. Determined to care for their new protege, Beth and her family worked tirelessly day and night to ensure the kitten was fed every hour. It couldn’t drink from a bottle, so they had to help it take its milk drop by drop. The little warrior also spent a lot of time sleeping and cuddled up in Beth’s neck to regain strength. With each passing day, the kitten’s appetite increased, and its beautiful blue eyes opened, marking progress in its road to recovery.
When he was only a month old, the little kitten weighed only half of what is considered normal for his age.
However, he wasn’t lacking in appetite and was already showing signs of curiosity by exploring his surroundings. As time went on, the kitten’s personality began to shine through as he spent more time playing. He was also incredibly affectionate with his foster family and loved to cuddle with them. While Guinness may have been rejected by his birth mother, he found a loving forever home with his foster family who became so attached to him that they decided to adopt him permanently.
As of now, our feline companion is almost a year old and has been thriving in terms of both size and health. We owe this success to the unwavering affection and patience given by those who surround him. With their support, he has surpassed his growth delay and is now able to relish every aspect of life.
